Celebrate the magnificent union of beer and barbecue at Los Angeles Ale Works’ Smokefest happening Saturday April 7.

The Hawthorne brewery, which makes beers like the hoppy California Cowboy lager and Goldilocks, a super light ale that’s one of the best beers to pair with food, is partnering with four pop-up barbecue joints for an all-ages barbecue fest.

The participating barbecue stands are Bartz Barbecue, which will be serving things like brisket, pulled pork, ribs and sausage; A’s BBQ, which specializes in Latin flavors of L.A., (think cochinita pibil pulled pork tacos); Hayseed BBQ, which makes meats like brisket and smoked fried chicken; and Oak Smoke BBQ, which serves meats such as St. Louis ribs and Cornish hens.

Entrance is free and dogs are allowed, too, but you’ll have to fork over cash or plastic for the barbecue and beers.

There will also be live music via Long Beach’s The Brothers Pine and Austin-based musician Teddy Long.
